Publishing Steps

1. EBOOK PUBLISHING

2. EBOOK & PRINTED BOOK PUBLISHING

1. EBOOK PUBLISHING

AKAKIA undertakes the publication and distribution of electronic books both for English-speaking and Greek-speaking Authors globally, following a very simple 2-step process, giving the opportunity to every Author to publish, fast and effectively, without discrimination or time-consuming procedures and above all, at a minimum cost.

Step 1

The Author, having registered or having connected, if already registered, fills out the electronic Publishing Application form, chooses the "eBook" Publication, and uploads (Upload a File) the required text files in .txt, .doc, .docx, or .rtf format or .zip compressed files format, if the Author chooses to include the book cover, and sends it by clicking on the button «Buy».

Step 2

In the second step, the Author makes a payment of the sum of £300 GBP. This amount refers to the following costs:

• The ISBNs registration for the electronic formats
• The set-up process
• Establishing electronic formats (.epub, .pdf and .mobi)
• The distribution of the Electronic Book on the largest eBook Shops globally

If the Author, when filling up the electronic Publishing Application form, has selected Copyright Protection in the Intellectual Property Protection Agency CopyrightHouse.co.uk, then an additional charge of £100 for the service will be automatically added to the payment stage. Alternatively, the Author may independently register their Copyright, and add the Document Copyright Registration Number when filling the Publishing Application form. Additionally, if the Author selects Cover Creation by AKAKIA, in the electronic Publishing Application form, then an additional amount of £100 will be added as well. If the Author wishes to send their own cover, it has to be created by a graphic designer in a Photoshop (PSD) format 300 DPI. It must be 0.32cm larger than the desired in each side (right side at the front cover, left side at the back cover, up and down at the front cover, the back cover and the spine), for example 14.32cm x 21.64cm for a printed book which is going to be published in 14cm x 21cm. Αll elements in front and back cover must be aligned with the printable area (for example the 14cm x 21cm area). The spine will be created by them as well, after the setup is finished they will be informed about the final number of pages, since its width must be the number of pages multiplied by 0.00572008cm. Furthermore, at the back cover, they must leave a space 5.93cm (height) x 4.06cm (width) where the barcode of the book is going to be placed. All elements (text, images) must be placed into separate layers. Finally, they must own the copyrights of every image they may use and they have to send the fonts they may have used as well. Any file that does not meet these specifications, will not be accepted and they will be charged for the creation of the cover. If the cover follows these specifications but AKAKIA Publications believes that it's not professional or hasn't any commercial value, the publisher reserves the right to create another one, without any further charges. Please click here to download a PDF file with the specifications.

As soon as AKAKIA receives the completed electronic Publishing Application form, the required files for publication and the required payment, AKAKIA will initiate the publication process. This process includes issuing a new and unique ISBN for each format of the book by Nielsen ISBN Agency, UK, the complete professional standard set-up, transferring the necessary electronic files in .epub, .pdf and .mobi formats and uploading the complete electronic book file for sale.

Each eBook will be sold on AKAKIA Publications' website in a .mobi format for eBook readers such as the Amazon Kindle, in a .pdf format for PCs and Pads such as the iPad or Android tablets, and in an .epub format for the most of eBook readers, such as Sony Reader, Kobo, Binatone, BeBook, Nook and Displex.

The price of each book is determined by the Author and is specified during completion of the electronic Publishing Application form. As shown in detail in the Terms of Use & Agreement of AKAKIA, the Author will be entitled to 70% of the net profits of the sale of each of their book sold. AKAKIA sets a minimum of £3.00 GBP as the selling price for each electronic book. AKAKIA recommends to all cooperating Authors to open and maintain a Paypal Account, so that their profits can be automatically deposited.

2. EBOOK & PRINTED BOOK PUBLISHING

AKAKIA undertakes the publication of printed books both for English-speaking and Greek-speaking Authors globally, and distributes via Amazon globally and via AKAKIA website for Greece and Cyprus. The publication of printed book can only be used as an additional service to the ebook publication.

With the minimum additional cost of £200, the book will be available for sale on Amazon, without the obligation from the Author to buy a significant number of copies that would cost a lot of money. In practice, every time someone orders a book from Amazon (amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.fr, amazon.de, amazon.it etc.) the book is printed the same day by Amazon with the process of Print On Demand and is sent to the buyer. Yet, the Author may order as many copies as they want at a very low cost. Thus, the author saves both time and money, since their are not required to pay in advance for a huge number of books, but the cost of production is deducted from what it is sold from time to time. Also, as it happens with the Electronic Book, the Author earns 70% of the net profit from each book, having, of course, previously deducted the cost of production and the Amazon profit. For example, a book of 60-100 pages with a coloured cover (e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/To-Kseskoto-Fr-Savvas-Vasileiadis/dp/1908362812) that is sold for £9-£10, deducting the cost of production and the 30% of the AKAKIA Publications, the Author’s profit comes to £2.50-£3.00. The books are printed in soft cover paperback, like the majority of the books on the market; in white inner pages and their dimensions may be suggested by the Author. The usual dimensions of the books printed by AKAKIA are 14cm x 21cm.

For AKAKIA to proceed with a printed book publication, the author must follow two simple steps, same as in the case of an electronic publication.

Step 1

The Author, having registered or having connected, if already registered, fills out the electronic Publishing Application form, chooses the "eBook and Printed Book" Publication, and uploads (Upload a File) the required text files in .txt, .doc, .docx, or .rtf format or .zip compressed files’ format if the Author chooses to include the book cover, and sends it by clicking on the button «Buy».

Step 2

Immediately afterwards, the Author is automatically transferred to the second step, that is the payment of the basic £300 plus the additional cost of £200 for the printed book publication. These amounts refer to the following costs:

• The registration of the ISBNs for the electronic formats and for the Printed Book
• The setting up process
• The establishment of electronic formats (.epub, .pdf and .mobi)
• The distribution and sale of the Electronic Book on the largest eBook Shops globally
• The distribution and sale of the Printed Book on Amazon
• The distribution and sale of the Printed Book via AKAKIA website for Greece and Cyprus
• The shipment of 6 copies to the National British Library in compliance with the Law
• The printing of a copy for AKAKIA archiving purposes

If the Author, when filling up the Publishing Application form, has selected Copyright Protection in the Intellectual Property Protection Agency CopyrightHouse.co.uk, then the Author must deposit the additional charge of £100 for the service. Alternatively, the Author may independently register their Copyright, and add the Document Copyright Registration Number when filling the Publishing Application form. Also, if the Author selects Cover Creation by AKAKIA, in the electronic Publishing Application form, then the Author will have to deposit an additional amount of £100.

At the same time, commences the set up process for the necessary files for the printed version of the book and its distribution on Amazon.

Each eBook will be sold on AKAKIA Publications' website in a .mobi format for eBook readers such as the Amazon Kindle, in a .pdf format for PCs and Pads such as the iPad or Android tablets and in an .epub format for the most of eBook readers, such as Sony Reader, Kobo, Binatone, BeBook, Nook and Displex.

In the case, any Author wishes to order a number of copies of their books at a low price, they can contact AKAKIA via email for further information. AKAKIA does not store or keep stock for any of the printed books, of any Author.

The selling price of the printed books will be set by AKAKIA Publications, depending on the production and printing costs. As shown in detail in the Terms of Use & Agreement of AKAKIA, the Author will be entitled to 70% of the net profits of the sale of each of their book sold. AKAKIA recommends to all cooperating Authors to open and maintain a Paypal Account, so that their profits can be automatically deposited.
