This book refers to the life and long activity of the Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain Gregorios Theocharous on the occasion of the completion of thirty years since he has been elected as Archbishop. At the same time, however, a brief account is also given about this same Archdiocese. To be more precise, about 300.000 Greek Orthodox Christians are presently living in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, and they all come under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. It was therefore for this reason that this Archdiocese was created in 1922, and the Patriarchate elects and appoints as its representative an Archbishop for the religious requirements of its Flock. The present day Archbishop Gregorios Theocharous was elected on the 16 April 1988 and has ever since governed the Archdiocese with very great success having as his assistants the Titular Metropolitan of Diocleia Kallistos Ware who is English, the two Bishops of Kyanea Chrysostomos Mavrogiannopoulos and of Tropaiou Athanasios Theocharous, together with 125 Priests and Deacons, amongst whom about 40 are English. All these serving in an equal number of Greek Orthodox Churches and organized Communities.
