Van Gras
or Evaggelos Grapsas
is the literary name of Mr. EVANGELOS GRAMMENOS,
born and resident in Greece. A graduate of Political
Sciences and Psycholgy, he dedicated most of his working
years to translating the leading psychologists of our
times, like ERICH FROMM, ALFRED ADLER, MORRIS NICOLL,
KHALIL GIBRAN, SUFI WRITERS, P.D. OUSPENSKI, JIDDU
KRISHNAMURTI and some more. These translations are still
on the shelves of the main bookshops in Athens,
Greece, after 3 decades
from their publication by leading Greek publishing
houses. Deeply inspired by
these writings and teachings, he began writing, whenever
inspiration was coming, in many fields, fiction for
children and adults, poetry for children and adults,
theatrical plays, psychological talks, which he
broadcast for many years from a radio-tv station in
Athens, Geece, books on self-knowledge and
self-transformation,etc. He says that he is happy
particularly for a simple work he did for the school
children, which benefited millions of them in their
begginings of learning: he recorded the readers of the
first 3 grades of primary school on cassettes, so that
children could listen to the texts of the readers and
learn reading easily, simply, joyfully. This work was
approved by the Educational Ministry
of Greece and was used in schools. He suggests to
teachers and parents to record simple texts for the
children to listen and look, and so to learn reading
with joy, and not with tears, as it often is the case.
Many of his poems were put in melodies and
recorded from him on
CDs, often broadcast by the
same radio-tv station. In all
of his works, especially in his latest ones, like
MONYNO, ANGELO LOVEFULL, RESTORATION NOW, he stresses
the urgent need for a radical change in our mentality,
from the egocentric and individualistic attitude,
imposed by the patriarchal system, under which we live,
to the mother-centered attitude, based on helping the
weaker, the inferior to move to autonomy and humanity.
He says that it is high time for women to take the lead
for this change, as explained in his latest book
